Incomparable cleaner, but has some problems
This is a bit of a frustrating effect. When all is working correctly it is the best carpet cleaner I have ever used. The problem is that it is fragile, has problems with the brambles motor overheating and shutting off and has a small clean water reservoir. I called chap service about the overheating problem and was advised that the problem will get better over time as the drive hit loosens and to use "Rug" mode instead of "Carpet" mode in the meantime. That does seem to work.

THIS IS UNBELEAVABLE. IT IS SO Comfortable TO USE AND MOST IMPORTANT TO ME-EASY TO CLEAN. IT WORKS FANTASTIC. I USED BISSEL, RAINBOW, Habituated to WALMART ON SALE CLEANERS, STORE RENTALS, AND THIS UNIT IS THE BEST. IT CLEANS AND DRIES Eccentric. I DID HESITATE TO PURCHASE BECAUSE OF THE PRICE. NOW THAT I OWN ONE, I CANT BELIEVE I WAITED. WE HAVE ALOT OF PETS AND IT CLEANS THE Pot-pourri LIKE NOTHING I HAVE SEEN. THE STORE RENTAL CLEANER WAS HEAVY AND BULKY, THIS IS EASY TO MOVE ARROUND. SO IMPRESSED!
I premeditated buying this product against having my carpets professionally cleaned, and after reading many different reviews on many discrete sites, I decided to go ahead with my purchase. My husband and I are so happy that we did and my husband is very hard to please.
Before we moved into our bawdy-house in Oct. 2009, we had our carpets professionally cleaned by the most highly recommended firm in town. They told us that our rug was wool and had to be specially cleaned. After spending over $1000 on the "special" cleaning... we moved our equipment about 8 days afterwards, as directed, into a house with still-damp carpets!!!
About a month after moving in, large spots started appearing in the hallway and close-fisted my son's bedroom door. Pet urine spots had begun to resurface! It was so disgusting! In addition, we found a leviathan red wine stain under one of the large chairs in our living room. These stains had resurfaced after the initial maintenance! When I called the cleaners, they told me that the dampness was due to "dampness in the air" and since we were new to the area, we had a lot to learn! When I asked them about cleaning my upholstery, what indeed stands out in my mind is that they told me that I would have to have my furniture dragged out onto our decks in order for them to clean them! Oh, no thanks!!
After doing some explore and testing my carpet fibers, I learned that my carpets were polyester and required no "special" tidiness! This Hoover is my first carpet cleaner, my husband used to own a Bissell with which he was not impressed. This machine is by a hair's breadth smashing! The taupe carpets are lovely again. Everything worked very well; we were gentle with it, as one should be with a good tool. The old pet stains cleaned up straight away, and the machine even got out a six-month old coffee with cream and sugar spill, along with most of the old wine stain. I familiar woolite with oxy-clean sprayed directly onto the carpet along with the hand brush (mini doormat steamer, really) to get the remainder of the stain out. We are very happy we purchased the machine, and Sears and Walmart both nick c accomplish large sizes of the amazing Platinum cleaner solution.

Cleans Distinguished but Very Cheaply Made
This doormat cleaner cleans very well, but it is very cheaply made. The gears are all made of cheap plastic. The gears stripped out after only 30 minutes of use. All superficial exposed parts are also made of cheap plastic. I would not recommend that anyone buy this carpet cleaner. Plastic is not always a bad fabric, there are some plastics that are very strong and not a bad choice, items like radiator tanks and valve covers on vehicle engines, but the plastic that Hoover uses on this carpet cleaner is very cheap and will not last.

Power and Relax
The Hoover Platinum Lightweight Straight up and down is a great vacuum. First, I would recommend a vacuum with a bag. For some reason the bag less vacuums don't get the job done. This vacuum is not only lightweight but does outstanding on stairs. The canister vacuum is good for hard floors and hard to reach areas. I would assuredly buy this vacuum again but hope it lasts for years.

I fondness these vacuums!
As a longtime "Hoover owner", I did a LOT of research before making this purchase. While I "looked" as various brands and models, WE selected the Hoover Platinum Lightweight Straight up and down Vacuum with Canister, Bagged, UH30010COM and could not be happier!
The UPRIGHT is lightweight, quiet, most maneuvered (thanks to the ergonomic handle)and cleans like a pro. Ditto for the canister!

Couldn't be Happier with result!
My last vacuum was bagless, worked well but was so pudgy, I hated using it. I sold it at a garage sale and purchased this one and I can't believe how much I like it. It is so taking into account weight and picks up dirt so easily. Plus it uses bags and I couldn't be happier.
