I have owned other steam cleaners. Nothing has ever come shut up shop to the power of a rug doctor. Even though we already have a cheaper steam cleaner I would still go and rent a Rug Doctor before Christmas and birthdays. I have a fancy we never wasted money on cheaper models. After many years of renting I decided to spring and buy a Rug Medical doctor, thinking that with all the times I've rented I spent enough to have bought one already. Now that I bought my own I have no regrets. I love it. The other reviewer had a few complaints about take the measure of and getting into corners etc... but I think those problems would be solved by buying the smaller beau id the Mighty Pro Plus. It is smaller, lighter weight, and therefore moves easier and gets nearer to the edges. Not to mention the the smaller, easier to use model is much cheaper. I got mine for $500 and it came with the upholstry affixing, 3 bottles of cleaning solutions, a five year warrenty, and free shipping. It was agreat mete out. I have used both Wide Track and Mighty Pro many times and prefer the smaller one. That is what I own. I think the Completely Track is best for big buildings, while the Mighty Pro Plus is better for homes and getting around household goods.I think they should have done more research about the product before leaving a negative review. You don't buy the Wide Track and whinge that it isn't good for spot cleaning. That's silly. I totally recommend any rug doctor if you want your rug to stay looking nice for a lifetime. I have a 2 year old and a 3 1/2 year old spilling snacks, painting the floor, and all the thing kids can do. Plus a large hairy dog and 3 cats. You would never be adept to tell by looking at my carpet. It looks brand new. The cost of this unit doesn't even compair to the expenditure of getting new carpet for a wholw house. Usually after I spend a lot of money on something I regret it, but this was a spectacular purchase. Trust me you will love yours too.

Very solid cleaner but has draw backs
I own 2 Bissel cleaners, 1 pro arousal and the other is even older. I wanted to try one of these thinking I might buy one because my other 2 are getting some age on them and I have had to repair the oldest one. This unit does a very great job as long as you are cleaning out in the middle of a room (away from walls & ect.). The brush on it agitates back and forth so it will get both sides of the nap. It however does not get very shut up to edges and when you start cleaning it doesn't start putting out solution very close to the front so you have to have attatchments to get mingy to walls, stairways, large furniture that you may not want to move each time you clean ect. Also it is big which makes it more delicate for spot cleaning. I don't know if it really cleaned THAT much better than my pro heat (I bought it when they first came out a few years ago - it's not the newest mould), but you don't have to stop and add water/clean the pickup tank nearly as often. Another drawback to this machine is that you have to mix the maintenance solution and the water. On the Bissels, you have seperate tanks and if you want to go all water to rinse a place you just cleaned or go heavier on the cleaning solution for grimier areas, you can just finger a knob. Also in the commericals they would have you believe that the carpets will dry faster. I'm not sure if that is true.
Don't get me wrong, it is a very ample cleaner, and it is built like a tank, I'm not sure it is worth almost $1000 ($800 more than the newer Bissel we have which also heats the sprinkle, or keeps it good and hot anyway).
We have 3 dogs and 1 clutsy teenage boy still at home, and they keep me busy cleaning carpets. If it indeed did THAT much better of a job than what I have, I would buy one. Or maybe if the price was a little more in line, at least $300 cheaper. I hope this helps.

The Rug General practitioner is not the most stylish carpet cleaner, but it definitely is a simple, strongly constructed work horse that gets the job done. If you have a small apartment then you won't need the WIDE model, but if you have an above average bulk house you'll be glad you got the WIDE model.

I do this since I of the small amount of cleaner residue tends to cause the carpet to re-soil itself faster. Also, on conservation cleanings try and use a bit less than the suggested amount of cleaner added to the hot water. Use hot, not just warm top-grade, and be sure to empty the collection tank the same day; otherwise, it will begin to smell really bad odors.
Periodically, take the be that as it may to clean the brush since it can become clogged with animal hairs, etc. Better yet, use a Dyson vacuum first to unclutter up all the little fuss stuff, animal hairs, etc. - I use a Dyson DC18 Slim and it makes my Rug Surgeon do a much better job.

Cleans expert . . . but quits spraying on third use
This motor car worked very nice the first two times I used it. Then, like so many other customers, my unit quit spaying. Established enough, I took mine apart like those before me, and the heater was plugged up with lime and calcium. Terrible think of flaw. Rather than attempting to fix it, I bypassed the heater with a piece of my own tubing. It works great now, minus the "notably-hot" water. If you buy this, use ONLY distilled water in the one gallon tank. The manufacturer should have thought of this. One nice article I will say about the 1699. . . it IS powerful and picks up a lot of deep down dirt.

Bissell 1699-C Steam Cleaner No Conserve
As a few others have mentioned, when this entity is working, it works well. We have had this unit for about 2 years now. Have used it twice. No problems until the other day - no spray from the nozzles at the drub level when pulling the trigger - but the hand tool spray was working. The heater (to be found behind the on/off switch - 4 screws & 2 bolts/nuts) was plugged. I dug out the crap at the inlet refuge with a small nail & blew air until it flowed out the outlet port. Hooked it back up & now it's working well. I'm stammering to use the heater though for fear of it clogging again, but at least I know what to do.

Grievous Features. Cheap Manufacturing.
I bought this motor car because I have always owned Bissell products. I started to clean my carpets with it and it stopped dispensing the cleaner after about 30 minutes of use. I called Bissell who sent me a new machine, and that one never worked at all. I took the machine back to retailer and will not buy another Bissell again. Bissell wanted to keep sending me parts rather than have me take back my machine, bad service. Also, I had to keep filling the bladder with water, it would use a ton of water on a very small amount of carpet.

Or you can subscribe to their website for $5 for a month and probing it yourself. It will also depend on whether you mostly vacuum hard floor (vinyl, hardwood) or easy (carpets). You won't be sorry if you do a little checking around first. The super extravagant Orecks and Kirbys are nice, but I don't think they're 5-6 times bettor, which is how much more you'll pay.
