Works important for me! Huge time saver...I've seen some winsome bad reviews on this robotic cleaner, but I bought my second one earlier this year and I still think they're influential! My first one lasted 5 years, and I used the heck out of it. It finally started blowing fuses (yes, there is a come together inside that transformer box) and I decided to buy a new unit to get a fresh transformer and also take advantage of some improvements they'd made (such as a longer, self-floating power railway-- my first one had a short, bulky line with floats every few feet to make it float).
I use my robo-kleen on a rectangular Kyak above-settle pool (yes, I know it wasn't made for rectangular pools). I did have to put a drain cover on my fore drain to keep the robo-kleen from hanging up when it crosses the drain. Sometimes (rarely) it gets into a repeating plan where it will run up and down one wall without crossing the pool. When this happens, I just give it a nudge and push it away from the screen.
Thinking back on my first robo-kleen and reading the user's manual more carefully this time, I would commend that folks who purchase this keep the cleaner in the shade and bring the transformer inside when it's not in use. I was amazed when I brought my new cleaner home base to see how bleached out and sun-damaged the original had become. My original transformer housing had lost its water proofing around the power redirect (it rotted out), and may have gotten wet at some point in time. That's probably why it ultimately failed on me. The new unit has gambler water proofing around the switch, which I was happy to see.
My second robo-kleen is about to complete its first full spice and is still going strong. I don't know what to tell the folks who report theirs stopped working gruffly after they purchased them. I'm 2 for 2 now, and have had no mechanical problems at all.
