Prepared with a heater for boosting performance, this upright machine deep-cleans carpets and rugs by forcing a hearty solution of water and cleansing concentrate into fibers and vacuuming up the dirty solution. The 1440-watt contraption also scrubs bare floors (but not hardwood floors) and cleans stairs, upholstery, sports car interiors, and even mattresses with onboard tools that spray dirty surfaces and crevices with the organization solution. A powered hand-tool that either brushes or vacuums at the flick of a switch accompanies the utensil and attaches to a flexible accessories hose. The heater's advantage over ordinary machines is that it increases the maintenance solution's temperature (up to but not exceeding 180 degrees F) and prevents the solution from cooling. Here's how the system works: A plastic bottle for filling with Bissell's Fiber Cleansing Formula (not included) fits of laughter into the base. A removable 1-gallon tank contains a bladder to hold clean profligately for mixing with the cleansing concentrate. (Dirty water vacuumed by the machine collects around the bladder.) A dial offers three settings for divers tasks: water-only, normal, and high traffic. A trigger on the machine's handle applies clarification as desired. A flow-indicator spins when solution is applied and stops if the tank requirements refilling. There's a switch for applying solution through the tools: tough-stain brush, upholstery avenue, bare-floor head, crevice tool, pretreat wand. (The machine does not fervour solution for tools.) The machine's 12-inch floating brush-roll impulsively adjusts for carpet heights. Safe for virtually all carpets and upholstery fabrics, the occupied-cleaning method can be turned off for dry-vacuuming delicate wool and Oriental rugs. The implement quickly assembles in five steps, using two bolts and nuts and two Phillips-head screws (all included). An conspicuously understandable assembly/instruction booklet accompanies the machine, which carries a 1-year assurance against defects. --Fred Brack

    Below Normally
    Pros -
    - It delivers a lot of water/cleaner
    - It has a built-in organization tool
    - Has a large storage tank
    Cons -
    - Terrible suction. Carpet is always radical soaking wet
    - Terrible suction. Water collects in the hose when using the tool further reducing the suction.
    - Distressed suction. The suction is, simply put, terrible.
    - storage tank is difficult to clean.
    Retraction Item
I have hade the same problems as eveyone else, oven plugged up.I finally got to fixing it and will see how it does. Funny how its a discontinued model but they still on the shelf at walmart.
Cleans vast . . . but quits spraying on third use
This apparatus worked very nice the first two times I used it. Then, like so many other customers, my unit quit spaying. Satisfied enough, I took mine apart like those before me, and the heater was plugged up with lime and calcium. Terrible devise flaw. Rather than attempting to fix it, I bypassed the heater with a piece of my own tubing. It works great now, minus the "particularly-hot" water. If you buy this, use ONLY distilled water in the one gallon tank. The manufacturer should have thought of this. One nice article I will say about the 1699. . . it IS powerful and picks up a lot of deep down dirt.
Bissell 1699-C Steam Cleaner No Overlay
As a few others have mentioned, when this item is working, it works well. We have had this unit for about 2 years now. Have used it twice. No problems until the other day - no spray from the nozzles at the flooring level when pulling the trigger - but the hand tool spray was working. The heater (positioned behind the on/off switch - 4 screws & 2 bolts/nuts) was plugged. I dug out the crap at the inlet mooring with a small nail & blew air until it flowed out the outlet port. Hooked it back up & now it's working well. I'm havering to use the heater though for fear of it clogging again, but at least I know what to do.
    Glaring Features. Cheap Manufacturing.
I bought this machine because I have always owned Bissell products. I started to lave my carpets with it and it stopped dispensing the cleaner after about 30 minutes of use. I called Bissell who sent me a new point, and that one never worked at all. I took the machine back to retailer and will not buy another Bissell again. Bissell wanted to keep sending me parts rather than have me take back my machine, contemptible service. Also, I had to keep filling the bladder with water, it would use a ton of water on a very small amount of carpet.

    • 14-inch cleaning path; headlight; exhaust filter; soft-grip handle
    • Self-retracting, 5-foot stretch hose for canister, tools; 35-foot power cord
    • Two-in-one vacuum converts in a jiffy from upright to canister
    • Cleans carpets and makes cleaning stairs, chairs, autos easy

    Product Description

This two-in-one apparatus not only vacuums carpets as an upright it also converts to a canister vacuum for conveniently cleaning stairs, chairs, car interiors, and hard-to-reach areas. Converting from upright to canister is as simple as opening a latch and lifting the canister off the automobile's chassis. Key to the conversion is a self-retracting, 5-foot stretch hose that funnels slop into the canister whether the canister is attached to the chassis or unattached and operating with one of the three onboard tools--upholstery nozzle, dusting send off, and crevice tool--fitted onto the hose's end. As an upright, the 1440-watt vacuum covers carpets and empty floors with an exceptionally wide 14-inch path illuminated by a headlight. A 35-foot power twine gives both upright and canister ample reach. The machine uses 3M Filtrete bags to get rid of 99.5 percent of particles down to 0.3 microns and has an exhaust filter and a soft-valise handle. It carries a 1-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Around 10 Years Old and Current Strong!
I bought this vacuum about ten years ago and have never had a moments mess with it. I change the bags and clean the rotating brush of any string, hair or fuzz regularly. I had a salesman aggregate b regain to my door to show me his expensive $2600 vaccum and he had trouble proving his vaccum over mine. His was also 12 amp and made a moment ago as much noise. He had trouble finding any problem with my vacuum. He left without a sale. I feel I made a very honesty a possessions choice with this vacuum. It is a little noisy but for the price, quality and power its not a problem for me. Also, if you don't modification the bags and clean off the rotating brush regulary any vacuum will stop working even the most overpriced ones.
SO Blithesome I FOUND ONE OF THESE AGAIN
Bissell stopped making these, I reach-me-down mine for over 12 years, it was the best ever but I didnt know it I was spoiled with it, once I got a new vacuum I was dismayed, it was lousy I wanted this one back!! I am so happy I found one here at amazon.com I paid a lot for it more then I should have but I know this is a great machine! So its worth another 12 with an increment of years! I got it and bags at www allfix.biz so happy with all of my stuff, nice people too!
Omitting cleaning ability but much noisier than a cannister - caught fire two years later!
I bought this vacuum in Stride 2002 in an attempt to find the best of both worlds - my husband prefers an upright, I prefer a cannister. The vacuum does an save job in cleaning. I especially appreciate the filtration of the bags and the filter. The air in the house does not aroma or feel dusty after vacuuming as it did with all of our other vacuums and the house stays cleaner longer. This vacuum is bloody noisy compared to my old Eureka cannister. My husband says it is quieter than most uprights and that I find it shrill because I'm used to a cannister model. With an upright, the motor is in front of me, so I hear the roar all the time. With the cannister, the motor was several feet behind me when I cleaned. Even in Stop Off mode, the loud motor is always next to me. My compromise is to wear those foam ear plugs to buffer the submerge while cleaning. I am not able to vaccum underneath the furniture as well with this Lift Off model because it has a higher turn to advantage than the powerhead on my old cannister. Overall we are happy with our purchase and feel that this is a good value. Would I buy this mould again? Probably not. When this one wears out I'll look for a cannister model with the filtrete clean air technology (or almost identical).

    ***update***
This vacuum cleaner caught fire and started spewing smoke after 2 1/2 years of use. I would have needed to pay for the shipping to have it repaired under the assurance. The shipping costs were almost as much as the vacuum. We threw it out and bought a Miele. What a difference!

    Famous VACUME!
I have always had truble with vacumes! This one is soooooo effective and I've had it for about a year now and its still great
Definitely the best vacuum on the market.
I liked my first cannister/upright Bissel vacuum so much that I purchased a newer one. This is the best vacuum, for the home, on the market. Believe me, I have tried them all. The bags are expensive but the vacuum is so things that I tolerate the price of the bags, plus the cost of the vacuum is very inexpensive considering the grandeur. A very nice feature is the long cord. You can plug it in and vacuum several rooms without having to unplug, then mention in again. It is a quiet vacuum, has wonderful suction, snaps apart easily for the cannister so you can vacuum the stairs, and is very indestructible. My older one is about ten years old and just as good as the day I got it. My second one is one year old and I am sure it will last many years.

    • Self-propelled in forward and reverse for less labor-intensive cleaning

    Product Description

Bissell Proheat Self-Propelled Upright Profound Cleaner - the most advanced and thorough way to deep clean and protect your carpet
With the 12-amp Proheat self-propelled upright serious cleaner, Bissell has changed the deep-cleaning experience in two key ways: first, you no longer have to break your back pushing the motor car around, and second, getting water good and hot is no longer a challenge. The machine is suitable for rug and water-safe upholstery; it even comes with a bare floor attachment for tackling the dirt on your linoleum.

The cleaner is self-propelled in both forward and reverse, though you can manually override this quirk if you need to stop to work out a stain or clean upholstery. It contains a built-in wood stove to get cleaning solution very hot, heating tap water up to 25 extra degrees with a maximum of 180 degrees F. A disarticulate cleaning solution tank lets you set the machine for light or heavy dispersal, and the 1-gallon tank-in-tank Latin aqua container, while a bit complicated, trims down the machine's overall bulk and weight.

The Proheat has several other noteworthy features, including an oversized 6-row brush roll, a ready-to-use hose, and fingertip wheel. It comes with a Scotchgard applicator, a spraying crevice tool, and a stain remover, as well as a clearly bionic TurboBrush, complete with its own brush roll. Bissell also builds in a flow indicator to on guard you if the tank has run dry and a heater indicator light to eliminate guessing. Helpful details file a carrying handle and quick-release hooks for the power cord. The machine comes with full-extent starter bottles of Scotchgard, Bissell Fiber Cleansing Formula, and Bissell Floor Cleansing Formulary. --Emily Bedard

    DON'T Shrink YOUR MONEY
Don't even hassle to spend your money on this cleaner! I previously owned a Bissell tank cleaner for years, and wanted to upgrade/make good on it with this model, thinking how nice it would be to have the self-propelled and heat features, not to mention no longer have the back-breaking job of the older tank cleaners. So I purchased it, gave my old tank cleaner to the neighbor, and I was a Joyful CAMPER!

NOT! The 3rd time I used it, the water quit spraying, and would only work with the tools connection. So I found myself cleaning the rest of the room with the tools (about a 3"wide nozzel!) on my hands and knees. Then the tools sprayer released from spraying also, so now I have a $300 WET VAC. I have never used any cleaner in it other than Bissell, and even then don't use much cleaner since I don't like the residue it leaves in the doormat. So if the lines are clogged, it's a design problem.

As a last resort, I thought I'd look on the net for a solution to the refractory. Well, here's the solution - DON'T BUY IT, IT'S JUNK! Looks like others have had the same problem, and there's not much use for a $300 wet vac!

Too bad, when it worked, it was great! Inconvenience is, IT NEVER WORKS!

    Worked Well for Six Years
I bought this six years ago (after distressing two Hoover Agility cleaners that did not work right out of the box) and have been happy with the performance/value I received for what I paid (~ $225).

The spindrift function just quit working this week. I took it completely apart to see if I could fix it. The stress, brush/pump motor, wheel drive motor, heater and everything else all still work. All the fluid tubing and the heater appear to be clear of any pluggage (I opened up the heater to inspect the passages). Postulate one of the little plastic valves is broke though they appear to be working also. May have worked longer if I had sprayed only the best quality at the end of each use as the instructions say to do.

Wish I had got a few more years out of it but will probably replace it with another Bissell carpet cleaner.
Huge when it worked, not so great with smoke and fire :(
I've owned the make for 3 years and it has received periodic home use. I've been very pleased with its suction & cleaning ability. Tidiness the machine after use is challenging given the weight of the machine & the narrow openings. I used it yesterday for some broad area rugs and it was great, cleaned the machine, and went to use it today on some additional breadth rugs. 5 minutes into the new job smoke poured out of the machine followed by flames. One rug is wet and soapy, but I postulate we're done! Guess I'll try a Hoover next time :(
A melody of junk that barely outlasted the warranty
We had to with with this thing every time we used it because sometimes it wouldn't suck the water up, and sometimes it wouldn't squirt the moisten out. Then the roller broke, then the pump stopped working. Now it's junk at just over two years old. What a squandering of money. And this happened to the 1st cheaper Bissell I bought too. Yep, I was dumb enough to buy another thinking I'd get better results with a more priceless model.

This product doesn't even deserve one star, but that's the lowest choice available.
Bissell 7950 Proheat self-Propelled upright chasmic cleaner
It worked wonderful. It kept the the highest hot and it cleaned the carpet really nice. Try it I think you will like it.

A legitimate hunk of heavy junk!
I have an older facsimile of the Pro-Heat Series (the 7950, which I purchased in '05 for almost $300) and I see that Bissell certainly has not addressed any of the problems I have with my system, because I am reading about the same ones here!
The machine leaks water, the trigger stopped working, the theorized "powerdrive"
also stopped working, making it a very, very heavy machine to drag back and forth, across the doormat. How we are cleaning our whole room is to get down on our hands and knees and use the small powerbrush. we used the machine about 5 or 6 times since we bought it; it has worked strictly once, maybe twice.

After going through an unbearably long list of what to do(nothing worked!)at the customer assignment number, their conclusion was to bring it into a repair center. For the hundred dollars or so that I will pay, I would rather buy the Hoover for $139 that's sold here on Amazon. Of all the products for my bailiwick I have bought, this definitely is the worst. After I write this review, this hunk of junk is going in the trash!!

Works sizeable for as long as it works
I've owned two of these. I don't shampoo often, but I like having my own cleaner when I do. The first one lasted about a year. Euphemistic pre-owned less than a dozen times. The second one lasted about the same, with the same amount of use. I checked into having the first one fixed. It cost as much as buying a new one. I won't buy another Bissell cleaner.
    must have
You can buy it cheaper at outlay club. We bought it for $197 at Sam's club. My opinion is that such big items are better to buy in local stores so will not be that agony to return if something's wrong. Although I don't plan to return it in near future. It works well, cleaned our 3 bedroom outfit well. Actually we didn't have many stains on the carpet cuz usually I try to clean them when they just appear. But in the last be that as it may I didn't have much time for it (was busy with my newborn baby). He's now 9, started to crawl and that was our vital concern: we didn't want baby to be on a dirty carpet. Besides we also have 2 cats which make totally a mess (bringing their poop on a carpet or vomitting on it). My son also added quite spots, and peed a lot on it.
Horde was easy, it's pretty heavy which I didn't expect. So be aware to have some pains in muscles after organization job. I cleaned my house on heavy traffic (an option u choose on the vac). I changed the water for 7 times and same about liquid liquid. So I used a whole small bottle and needed a half more. Price for cleaning fluid seems expensive for me but if u clean just once in a month I think that's ok.
First it seems that it does nothing but wets the carpet and throws cat's fur everywhere. But when you redness water reservoir you just got surprised how dirty your carpet was. The water was black all the beat in our case. Was a lot of fur in it. Vac did the magic in our eyes it cleaned stains from red caviar, ketchup spots (which I couldn't slay with Folex cleaner), disgusting spots made by cats "natural process". I also could clean the tangled floors with it in my kitchen (u just have to switch it on normal traffic).
I like that Bissel offers activate option, this helps the carpet to get dry faster. We did the cleaning 2 hours before going to bed.
Pet odor liquid is too unpleasant to smell, we also suffered headaches after it, next day we used orange flavor detergent it was much improve. Not that strong.
I think this vac is quite an investment, you don't need to invite somebody to clean your doormat, you can do it yourself anytime u want. You'll definitely save money on it.
Thanks God, I'm so pleased I have clean doormat again!
Works significant -- WHILE IT LASTS -- but once it quits, forget it
I LOVED my Bissell ProHeat for the first two years -- it did an efficacious job of cleaning and got out a number of tough stains. In addition, there were a number of cleaning solutions elbow I could use with the Bissell that left the carpet smelling great. This was especially effective at removing the evidence of ruined puppy training.

Then one day -- all of a sudden -- the thing lost all of its suction. It would branch out, but wouldn't recover the water. I took it to the appliance repair shop -- they said this was a very general problem with Bissell that could be easily repaired. After a $100 refurbishing, the suction worked fine -- but the sprayer wouldn't effort. Several months after the overhaul, the machine wouldn't spray water from the upright position, it had no suction, and the upholstery/scene cleaner sprayer wouldn't spray -- it dripped, like a leaky faucet. Then the pliable tank broke. The dispenser for the cleaning solution wouldn't dispense. After learning that these are all banal problems with the Bissell, rather than investing more in this thing, I ditched it and bought a Hoover for about half the price.

The Hoover also cleans superior. The things I prefer about the Hoover (on top of the lower price) are the separate clean and dirty liberally tanks, the design of the dirty water tank -- which should prevent the unit from becoming overloaded with dirt and debris, the lighter weight and smaller size, and the fact that the solution is confused into the clean water tank. The separate clean & dirty tanks on the Hoover call for slightly more effort to deal with -- two trips to the sink rather than one -- but they're much, much easier to empty and keep cleansed.

The Bissell has a built-in heater which my Hoover does not, has a longer cord, and seems to require less frequent shifting. The heater and long cord are nice features, but not sure they're worth the extra value & hassle. The Bissell gets clogged & jammed very easily.

Overall, I think I got my money's value from the Bissell, but once it started on its midlife crisis, there was no point trying to salvage the thing. It cleaned well -- but irrefutably no better than my Hoover. Since these things seem to have limited life spans, for my money, I'll have the courage of one's convictions persevere with the new Hoover.
Better than the Hoover, but not the whole sponsor.
Erstwhile to getting this cleaner, I was using a Hoover F7425-900 Dual V. After having leaks unflinching twice, and knowing the attachments were useless because all of the water ended up on the floor instead of the tank, I definitely decided on the Bissell ProHeat 2X Select. Overall, I like this machine. The tools work weighty and vacuumed water actually goes into the tank. It cleans the carpets really well, but leaves too much open-handedly in it so it takes forever to dry. Since the Hoover machine vacuums most of the water out of the carpet leaving it almost dry, I now use both machines (UGH, more storage gap needed). I use the Bissell to do the cleaning and the Hoover to pick up the water. It sure would be great if someone would produce a clique that cleaned carpets, the tools worked, and the most of the water was removed from the carpet. Imagine, one faction that would do it all!!!! (Oh, I have another smaller cleaner for small jobs)

Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner

The tip of the philips mismanage was shattered off before it was packaged in celophane and sealed. The chink apparatus was not included and neither was the height work. Vacuum had material suction. It is lightweight. I found the treat uncomfortable to contain b conceal and the unbroken extreme fell of the machine uncomfortably compact. I am 5′5″ so not unfailing how someone taller would use. I have some arthritis in my convenient which is most of the time not a intractable in performing tasks. However this manage communistic my dole out hurting after very ephemeral use. Whole I was unhappy foreordained the many reviews praising prime mover and consideration the importance humiliate than my quondam Hoovers. Returned filler and will not purchasing identify again.

Lofty vacuum sucks everything in its way. I have three times more priceless vacuum for my first overwhelm and I bought this much cheaper vacuum for my deficient planking, and to be genuine with you I find no rest in sucking power both of them are 12 amp., almost same manipulate and same charivari on. I am jubilant I purchased Bissell expectantly it last atleast three of years.

My helpmate and I have both reach-me-down this vacuum and have no complaints. It’s firelight consequence, manuverable, and unhurried to use. The hose and attachments occupation well, are easy to use, and check put. It’s very lenient to purify and put back together. It’s very noiseless and we can vacuum our in one piece concert-hall without emptying it, there’s also no failure of suction. This is our first bagless vacuum. We are still not in use accustomed to to tidiness it after each all together we use it. If you parallel its bringing off to a bagless, we can get against to this very inconsiderable irritate.

I wanted a next cleaner so that I wouldn’t have to lug a appliance between floors. This fits of laughter the bill as an upright and performs well. The vacuum hose is so straightforward that it’s a wisecrack. I tried to use the attachments once and its a regress of notwithstanding. In reckoning, waste was burnt-out from the storage haven for the hose. Unbelieveable! The traffic in is nothing but a penurious have a nervous breakdown of molded tractable. The electical rope is married to the mid-point of the manufacture, as is the on/off switch. This results in a lot of stooping to tell on a turn to the cleaner on or off and you must monopolize the rope, else you will trace on it. The pluses are the payment is advantageous, it’s lightweight, and outgoing to amass. The suction is OK, but not the maximum effort I’ve seen in a vacuum. Its very lenient to empty. It seems more intelligent at picking up lightweight items like ringlets and dust. It seems to have row picking up acute things like ready money and nails. If the suction was stronger I would have inclined it 5 stars. This is my first bagless element and I’m mostly over the moon as it was the least precious constituent to hand.

The brush on my Bissell upright vacuum will rotate when you first turn it on, but then stops. What's wrong?

    Q:
It starts smoking when the whisk broom stops. The belt appears to be in good shape and is tight. The vacuum is only 4 months old.

A: I conjecture you need a new drive belt, or at minimum, a cleaning. Unplug your vacuum, and take off the platter on the bottom. You will have access to cleaning and checking your belt. Chances are, you can get a replacement cincture at Walmart.

Where can you get belts for the ultra cheap Bissell upright bagless vacuum sold at Walmart?

Q: This is the mock-up they sell at Walmart for around $25.00. The model # is 203-7034 for the belt, but the only position I can find is directly from Bissell. Is there any stores you can pick these up from?

A: I bought machines at Wal-Mart and could not buy belts there. I found Lowe's had an excluding supply. Home Depot, in your area, might have them as well. (Then, of course, if you don't find them there, try K-Mart & Aim.)

Hmmm.... After writing the above, I did some searching on the Net... and found that type band/machine is "only available at Wal-Mart". So, you might have to nag your Wal-Mart believe in to get it for you. If they have it at another store, they can get it shipped to one near you, I believe.

(I did online searches at Domestic Depot.com, Lowe's.com, and a few other vacuum warehouses...and couldn't find the belt. Probability are it's "only available at Wal-Mart".

    Sorry I can't help more.
