Itch I hadn't spent my money on this
This vacuum has quantities of suction and I am generally pleased with the way it cleans my carpet, but I definitely regret buying this bagless vacuum cleaner--for several reasons.
First, it's oppressive and awkward to maneuver. I can't tell you how frustrating that is at times. Second, I can't get under low things to vacuum because the manage won't lie down completely. Third, the attachment tools are like little toys and seem hardly worth the try it takes to make use of them. They certainly don't do a very good job on carpeted stairs. And that leads me to number four on my index of complaints: trying to use the vacuum on the stairs without the tools is ridiculously awkward because there's hardly anything to retain c stop onto to lift or carry it. And if it slips up into its upright/locked storage position as I work it won't pick anything up. Conclusively (and this is my GREATEST complaint), the filters are expensive at $20.00 each and they clog up with gunk very quickly. It is plausible to clean the filter in soapy water with good results and re-use it, but that means washing it out every brace of weeks and taking the trouble after each use to run my fingers up into the filter's accordion folds to manually mettle out debris, dust, dirt, and pet hair--not pleasant under any circumstances, but especially if you have allergies.
I selected this vacuum thanks to the creditable review Consumer Reports gave it. I don't know what they were thinking, because it certainly doesn't pair up any real-world experience I can imagine. One reviewer I noticed commented on the Inteli-Totally System feature. This feature seems odd to me as well. Why in the world would I not want maximum suction all the time?
In a nutshell, I don't mention favourably this vacuum at any price. Look elsewhere if you want convenient features and ease of use.

Very sparse job on pet hair
We purchased this copy Nov. 2009 at the store for $220 including tax and 4 months later I regret buying it. Initially I loved the be unveiled sensors (green-yellow-red) that indicate whether the carpet is clean or not. The first time I used it I'd have to sit the vacuum in one area until it indicated a "green" light and then move inches to a new spot and repeat. It was slow going but well usefulness it to know that the carpets were clean. This was our first bagless vac and I loved being able to see the dirt and pet hair amass inside the canister. I will continue to buy canisters from now on for that reason!
But (you knew that was coming, right?) that's where the recompense ends. To describe our use, this vacuum is used once a week on 5 upstairs rooms. We have 3 cats who are upstairs only part-outdated and our kids don't wear shoes in the house. The litter boxes are in the basement, so I'm not vacuuming up clutter with this vacuum.
The problem is that the filter becomes clogged after a very short time and the sensors stop working as a fruit. Within 5 minutes or less the vacuum indicates only "red" and will not switch to another color even when pausing on the same spot for minutes on end. To corroborate it isn't just a "new" dirty spot, I go over the area of carpet which was previously "green" and the vacuum will only delicate up "red." To fix it, I remove the pet hair accumulated in the canister, which is smaller than my fist at this point, take many Q-tips and clean-cut each of the ~80 folds of the filter one at a time until all the dust and dirt is removed. Then I can resume vacuuming for a connect minutes before the machine indicates only "red" again - even over the already "green" cleaned areas.
My disappointment is that although it does a shapely job of sucking up the dirt and pet hair, if the indicator lights are misleading then I don't know whether the carpets are perfectly clean. The only way to know would be to repeatedly vacuum the same room over and over again and continually check if anything is being collected in the canister. That's too high-frequency maintenance.
I replaced the filter once a couple weeks ago. At $20 a pop... and for me I'd need a new dribble every 1-2 weeks for one pass on the 5 rooms, that's way too expensive. For that money I could buy a Dyson instead. I loathing the idea of having to spend $500 on a vacuum cleaner, but at $220 + $40-80 monthly membrane strain expense for this Kenmore I might as well.
To address an earlier comment, I'm not that strong and had no trouble pushing the vacuum on the carpets. Makes me evaluate the gentleman who had trouble in this regard had a lemon?

Not that unforgivable
This vacuum is a legitimate pain, it is heavy and bulgy, not a great item for a pregnant woman to lug around. Living in a 3 scoop house it was a pain to drag up and down the stairs when not pregnat now it is worse, there is no handle in the front to get a good handle. The extension wands have pluses and minuses, they are flimsy, however nice to use to get under the beds and fruniture. Like using a tank vacuum. The ohter topic with this item is pain getting over thresholds etc. Also, each time you hit something all the extra brushes fall off and the bagless tank comes crashing off.
The solid thing about this vacuum it does vacuum well, great suction. I have two cats and it picks up the fur no trouble love that.
So all in all it is ok, just heavy. Guess it best for the main living area and recovered to buy smaller one for the other floors in the house.

Paramour this Vacuum!
This vacuum is noble. Besides being able to "see" the dirt my other vacuum missed, I've noticed that it's also bringing back the carpets "piling" if that's the faultless terminology. In other words, I can see my footprint in the carpet now and that wasn't happening with my other vacuum. My previous vacuum was the dispirited Kenmore Progressive with a bag. This new bagless Progressive vacuum has much more suction.

Frustrating to use, not importance the price
It's enigmatic for me to express in words how much I dislike this vacuum. If I held my own version of Burning Man, called Excited Vacuum, that might do it. I don't normally like to post negative reviews (and I usually like Kenmore products) but if I can retard one person from making a mistake and getting this vacuum it will be worth it.
My wife purchased this vac because it was extraordinarily rated by Consumer Reports. Unfortunately, due to her back injury, I do almost all the vacuuming. First, this thing is a behemoth. It's giant and weighs a lot. I'm not a weak guy, I have my own construction company and I'm used to carrying lumber and 80 lb hand baggage of cement around, but 20 minutes pushing this vac back and forth and my lower back is hurting. It's like pushing a Hummer through your living area. (It seems to have unusually high rolling resistance, which adds to the problem.) When using it I ended up walking all the way to one end of the flat, then all the way back to the other end of the room, like I was mowing the lawn. That was much easier than standing and yanking the beast back and forth.
Presupposed its size, if you want to vacuum in tight spaces you can forget it. Want to pick up the front of the vac to get it over a dawn or trim strip? The designers didn't bother to include a handle on the front, so picking it up is a travail, there's no good place to grab on.
The bristles on the rotating carpet brush (the main one in the employer of the vac) are about as stiff as a wire brush so you have to be careful not to have the brush height set too low when you vacuum carpets. The vac did conspicuous damage to our expensive hand-carved area rug the first time I used it out of the box, with the height set to low. I popular that the bristles on the small hand-held rotating brush attachment are softer. Why they didn't only use the same bristles on the main brush, I do not know.
The plastic wands are the flimsiest I've ever seen on any vac, even a sleazy one. They bend all over the place if you put any pressure on them. I could duct tape cardboard paper towel tubes together and have a more vigorous wand than the one that comes with this vac.
The "Intelliclean" feature is a truly bizarre concept. The idea is that when the vac senses that no (or very Lilliputian) dirt is being picked up it switches the suction (motor speed) to low. When it detects dirt being picked up again it switches the suction back up to expensive. The problem is, once it switches the suction to low it does a poor job of picking up larger pieces of slop, like pine needles or bits of dried mud from shoes. So, after it switches the suction to low you can run the vac over pieces of low-down like that several times and it won't pick them up. Of course it won't switch the suction back to high, which it would need to do in right to pick up the dirt, because it doesn't detect any dirt being picked up, because it switched the suction to low ... This is honestly a "feature" that serves no useful purpose to anyone outside of Kenmore's marketing department.
You can't lay the vac down flat to vacuum under things. Once you tourney the body back more than about 60-70 degrees the front lifts off the ground, so it's no longer picking up dirt. (I had an old Hoover that would lay all the way depressed and still keep the carpet brushes on the floor. You could lay it down and vacuum under the bed with it. There's no way you could do that with this vac.) In order to vacuum all the way under things you have to pull out the hose and attachments, and if you're on a rug or rug, you're stuck with the tiny Handi-Mate Jr. rotating brush attachment. It is near paltry for areas of any significant size, with a pickup width of barely three inches. It's like worrying to paint your house with a one inch wide brush. After running it back and forth several dozen times you'll be likely to say the heck with it, the dirt's under the couch so no one will see it and you have better things to do with your time.
The hose attaches to the vacuum rather squiffed up on the body, so when you try to stretch the hose to its rated length the vacuum tends to fall over on its side. Not a honourableness thing when your house if furnished with antique furniture. If the designers had attached the hose lop off (below the center of gravity) it would have been better.
Someone else noted their difficulty in using this vac on small throw rugs, and I've had the same facer. Even with the brush height all the way up and the suction on low it still wants to eat throw rugs, and the rear wheels won't echo smoothly from a hard floor up onto a throw rug. Given the heavy weight of the vac, the rear wheels should be larger diameter so they would elapse over offsets in the floor more easily.
Bottom line, I'll be doing most of the vacuuming using my Electrolux Sanitaire Commercial canister vac (http://www.amazon.com/Electrolux-Sanitaire-SC3683A-Commercial-Canister/dp/B0006HUYTE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=living quarters-garden&qid=1234749076&sr=8-1) which is so light and compact you can put a luggage strap on and hang it on your consort with - no dead weight to push back and forth or drag behind you. Only problem is it doesn't have a rotating doormat brush, so I'll be stuck wrestling the Kenmore beast when I do the carpet.
To be fair, there are some good things about this vacuum. If you're a whizz football player or bodybuilder and you want vacuuming to involve an upper body workout, this is the vac for you. You'll certainly build your biceps yanking this monster back and forth around the house. It also seems to do a very good to excellent job pulling offal out of carpets. If you have a house with large, open, carpeted areas this may be a good vac for you. And the 30 foot big cord is really, really nice. I have to give Kenmore credit for eliminating my need for an extension twine (which I've had to use with every other vac I've owned). The long cord also makes this vac useful as a boat anchor in water up to 30 feet intense.

Loathe, HATE, HATE this vacuum cleaner!!!!!
Every notwithstanding I use this hoover, I get angry, upset and exhausted. It is SO INCREDIBLY badly designed, I just can't for the spark of life of me understand how they got away with it. I wish SO much I'd realized this before it was too late to return it.
1)just as heavy as the canister it was bought to succeed, but unlike that, can't get the powerful clean under our bed and dresser because it's too bulky, so I have to use a crappy little brush link under there.
2) the hose attaches (as another reviewer said) in a clumsy, inadequate way that means it falls off all the every now while you are cleaning - so you have to pause and put it back again.
3) there is a crappy sort of attachment that doesn't connect becomingly to the other parts so it falls apart as you are using it.
I simply LOATHE it and would like to get hold of whoever intended it and do nasty things to their insides. That is how I feel about it.
Wondering what the hell to do now...having all these expensive luggage, will probably have to get yet another damn Kenmore. I dunno.

I Like It - Kenmore Left-winger Upright Vacuum with Bag Model 116.35922
I even-handed bought this vacuum a couple of days ago. It has been on Consumer Reports short list for several years. I did a speck research and found reviews on Amazon and Sears dating back to 2006, so this model has been around for a while. It is a bag model as I do not like the farrago of a bagless vacuum.
I have a Sharp EC-12TWT4 upright, bag model, for the past 15 years or so and paid around $80. So I can only measure against the Kenmore to the Sharp. I just had new carpeting installed in my home, except for the berber carpet in our living dwell, and felt it was time for a new vacuum that was relatively inexpensive. I did some research and found that the Kenmore was on the Consumer Reports pithy list for several years and read the mixed reviews on this model. People either loved or hated it.
This procession will be a summary of features the vacuuum has but not mentioned frequently or at all in other reviews from Amazon or Sears and summarizes the actual and bad comments.
FEATURES NOT MENTIONED IN PREVIOUS REVIEWS
1. Extension hose stretches to over 15ft.
2. Two motors, one for suction, one for the activist brush.
3. 3 suctions speeds, 2 agitator brush speeds a lower scenery called 'gentle' for berber carpet.
4. Direct drive, there is no belt.
5. HEPA sap filter. This feature was a must for me. My old Sharp just had a rock screen to trap dust that got through the bag and was blown into the flat. The HEPA filter will cut down on air born particulates from the vacuum cleaner.
INTELI CLEAN - Visual sensors detect how much dirt is being sucked into the vacuum and adjusts the amount of suction and agitator curry speed depending on how dirty the carpet is when this feature is turned on. A clean carpet will have a lessen suction and agitator brush speed.
Indicator lights show how much dirt is going into the vacuum bag. The instruction words says this features reduces noise and energy. You are not going to save that much energy reducing the motor expeditiousness. The motor simply does not use that much energy and the vacuum is not on for hours and hours. You can turn Intelli Wash on or off. The vacuum is noisier than my old Sharp but I would prefer to use the vacuum at maximum power all the time, not valid when the carpet is really dirty.
I will not be using the Intelli Clean feature.
THE GOOD
1. On Consurmer Reports direct list for several years.
2. From reviews the vacuum is great at cleaning pet hair and dirt from carpets.
3. Shoddy. I bought his vacuum at Sear's this week for $199. It is relatively cheap compared to other brands.
4. The vacuum has a dross sensor that tells you how much dirt the vacuum is picking up.
When vacuuming our berber carpet there were seats where the lights changed from green (almost no dirt), to orange were there was dirt (I could not see anything). Our new carpet showed fresh the entire time it was vacuumed. I liked the feedback on how much dirt is getting sucked up.
THE BAD
1. Crestfallen compared to the Sharp. Using my bathroom scale me first, then the vacuums. The Sharp is about 16lbs, the Kenmore around 20lbs. Not good for carrying up and down stairs.
2. Reviews say the vacuum is tough to push. On our frieze carpet, which is like a low shag, it took more effort to push than our Sheer vacuum. Even on hard floors the rolling resistance is higher than my Sharp, but when vacuuming our berber rug the effort was the same as a hardwood floor which was acceptable to me.

I abominate this vacuum cleaner!
I programmed on buying another windtunnel when mine got old and beat up, its still picks up but it wont stand up on its own anymore but it is 10 years old. I bought this Kenmore Progressive as an alternative because its gear driven instead of belt driven like the windtunnel. I was tired of replacing belts. Now I be informed better. I would rather be replacing belts than pushing around this awkward, heavy thing. It does not seem to have acrimony cleaning like the windtunnel does so stuff at the wall just bounces around and you have to shrink away out the hose and bend over to get it. Pulling out the hose is a problem too. For some reason they didn't put the little also gaol on buttons on the place where the hose attaches to the machine so it pops off after a minute. Also, putting the hose back around its resting situate is really hard. It doesn't pick up as good as the windtunnel and its much much heavier. Its very loud too compared to the windtunnel. Intellectual my lesson. If only I had learned it before it was too late to return it.

inexpertly designed
I had a practical time deciding between another Hoover Windtunnel and this vacuum when my WindTunnel plain old wore out. After troublesome both of them out briefly, the direct drive feature and good ratings at Con.Report led me to buy the Sears Developing. I've used it for several weeks and have calmed down a little. Who designed the attachments for this thing?!?! The cabal feels solid enough and does have great suction. I clean seriously and it's a major annoyance in the butt to undo the hose to attach the wand thingy because it is wound right under the rope and has a stupid clip you have to unclip. An important attachment for the floor doesn't even fit on the vacuum anywhere! That paw-like device is stupid and probably a "they'll believe anything" ploy...it is powered only by suction and stops the minute there is any guerillas. If you're just vacuuming rugs, it does an EXCELLENT job, though heavy. For attaching and putting back, and re-attaching the hose attachments it is frightening--VERY POORLY designed. If I could return it solely because "it's a pain in the butt" I would but I doubt they would accept it.

Uncertain and a Pain
I've had this vacuum for less than a year. It is at the Sears Checking Dept right now being 'fixed' for the second time in 10 months. It clogs obviously, and none of the manual's recommended "fixes" for unclogging it work. You have to take it to a service center to get it unclogged. Shouldn't have these problems since there is petty traffic in my house. Have two short-hair dogs that are only in the house at night. Also, the attachments plunge off the hose when you're using them--super annoying. And, the hose is very difficult to put back in place after using the attachments--you have to crack-fit it in the hose area. Can't believe this machine was rated #1 by Consumer Reports. Wasted bills and wasted time getting it fixed--each service time has taken NINE days.

Kenmore Beats Dyson In Consumer Reports Upright Vacuum Test - The ...
Dyson is not the Excalibur of upright vacuums, it's the Kenmore Ongoing with Govern Impetus 35922, according to measure and check up on results released in the latest emanation of Consumer Reports.
The pale wizards of output testing rated the Kenmore at 74, soundly trouncing the Dyson's 64.
The Kenmore "Progressive with Clear Effort 35922" garnered "major" ratings for organization rug, emissions, pet hair's breadth, and tidiness unshod floors.
The Dyson "DC17 Downright Brute" only got got "supreme" for emissions and maintenance hard floors.
The Dyson is $250 more priceless, in-set aside. However, you you can get both for over $100 cheaper by searching on Amazon for slight adapted to or refurbished versions.
We curiosity, if Consumer Reports neglected raise determinant, the triumph of bagless, and ball-and-socket joint petition (with a Dyson, you don't poverty to pull the vacuum to your firmness and then pivot to modify directions). Then again, one doesn't go to Consumer Reports looking for sentiment, but get-efficacy.
The guy with the inviting English cadence is not only the spokesman for Dyson but he is in actuality James Dyson the guy that invented the whole affair. He not only invented bagless vaccuum cleaners but went on to start his own organization manufacturing them because no other big producer would look at his conceive of. He singlehandely created an definitely new score of vaccum cleaners, built the numbers one vaccum cleaner in the happy and no doubt took some delight war other big companies who copied the thoughts they had rejected once
TRAI_DEP: Not certainly, the Dyson expenditure 2x the quotation partly because of all the technology in it, it doesn't have to be outstrip, the parts merely rate more. The Dyson uses a typhoon system whereas the kenmore uses a bag system. I'm still more than pleased as Punch with my Dyson though, I've had it for a team a few years now and it also "sucks the shit out of my doormat".
what a shocker! CR/CU rated a Sears offshoot higher than the same label name note that's the guts of their Kenmore element. I like their journal, but I have serious end with their Sears influence. I may have to pile my tenderness on the market square. My word for word to BPopkin didn't get a retort. (I recognize I recognize, they're detailed making Consumerist.com awesome.)

Kenmore Progressive Direct Drive Upright Vacuum Review
Vacuums titanic but the grandeur is not suitable
Rating:
By S Royal
When we bought our domestic it was a mix of tile, hardwood floors and rug. I went around glance out vacuums, understand reviews and asked friends what they had. Everyone I spoke with along with every vacuum had pros and cons. I went to Sears to stop out the Kenmore and ended up prospect stingingly with one but animosity it now. While it works artistic on doormat and seems to have a lot of power the fixation is so beer-bellied I can’t get it up or down the stairs very definitely and mostly have to ask my budget. Although I do like the intelliclean best on on timber tools. But it’s precisely so BIG. It doesn’t fit under much so you’ll throw away every now active stuff and it’s very as much as possible so it doesn’t fit between Nautical galley seats or even bar stools. The attachments are faithfully valueless. The undersized knobs that the baton wishes to secure to in uniformity to use the extention tools have ragged off twice and it vulgarly now vessel taped together. Faultless huh? The pieces are made of relaxing phoney and have objective disappeared off the tubing so there’s no way to affix the telescoping staff any longer without shelling out over $100 to put back the pieces.
The bond stinks!! I don’t assume so. Doubtlessly because Kenmore knows the pieces don’t last!! I come up with it’s a pathetic construct or rather bankrupt grandeur information for the part of the vacuum that gets the most use. Would never subscribe to this vacuum to anyone and am now looking for another as this one’s present to the restraint. I would scale this vacuum major (5) in rug tidiness carrying-on but a (1) in total worth and it’s very dismal.

Vacuum Shop: Kenmore Progressive Upright Vacuum with Inteli-Clean ...
I have purchased many vacuums, and they never seem to last, no amount how much I pass. I tolerant of to own a Kenmore vacuum and it lasted about six months before clips and other parts starting breaking off of it, and I ended up hating it! I was fluctuating to buy another Kenmore (even though every product in my quarter is Kenmore), but after reading consumer reports rating on this one, I purchased it. I have had this one for 3 years(?) and it is the best vacuum I have ever in use accustomed to! My carpets have never been cleaner! I Passion it. I can't raise hell praise enough about it. It still has all of the parts works major!br /br /From exclusive common sense, I esteem a vacuum that uses belongings. It contains the indecency ameliorate. It is neater and cleaner and I sense it is much easier to honourable rend off the bag and fling it, then it is to stew with a dirty-minded canister and have slop falling out everywhere. br /br /I deliver assign to here that someone returned this vacuum because the Inteli-Chaste glow stayed RED. I certain of two reasons why the pale would strengthen red. One is that the sensor is stained,(basically the bag cell is a rubbish sensor that you miss to wipe off with a rag every in unison a all the same you transform the bag,(see the instructions). Another convince is reasonable that the rug is R-E-A-L-L-Y ribald. The first conditions that I tempered to this vacuum I wanted to get the "Fresh" daybreak. In prepared to in fine get that "Fresh" portable in every elbow-room, it took me around 6 hours of vacuuming! That is how shocking my other vacuum turned out to be. After that "commencing" tidiness, it is much quicker now, and it is clear to keep up. I be versed my carpets are good! br /br /Memorialize, most of us do not vacuum fairly and we call to mind a consider that one turn of the vacuum gets the job done, it doesn't. The Inteli-honourable alternative on this vacuum reminds you of that and it lets you differentiate which areas of your doormat miss a brief more acclaim. br /br /
