Yes it is valuable, but amortize the costPure mackerel, you might say, $700.00 for a vacuum cleaner with no attchments? Not even TV advertising? Let me testify. I have been using a Royal commercial upright for almost 20 years. It is an unbelievable cleaning machine. Picks up almost everything if you adjust the beater bar, moves very easily on its wheels and it unquestionably isn't hat heavy. Besides, think of th egym money you will save when you hoist this beauty around the sixteen floors of your excellent mansion.
Yeah, it is a bunch of money up front. But, in 30 years, how many $400.00 Dysons are you active to go through? Sure, you friend sells Kirbys, but they aren't that great.
Seriously, a professional machine, it will probably outlive your cleaning life, maybee your kids as well. Buy it, seriously, buy it.
It's a Tank!
I bought this vacuum to supplant an Oreck. I'm very happy with the vacuum and I would purchase one again.
The greatest good point about this vacuum is its suction. It made my rug fluffy in places it has lost all fluff. It also pulled up a tremendous amount of dirt from my carpet...and I did vacuum regularly with the Oreck. This vacuum also has influential suction the entire width of its head. Most vacuums I've used do not do so well on the sides. I even noticed objects fa the head getting pulled in by its suction. One great feature is the suction indicator on the front. It pulls in when I get the vacuum on the precisely height for the carpet.
The cord is plenty long enough. I can vacuum the main floor of my race without moving the cord if I pick the right outlet. Also, the vacuum is quite maneuverable, unusually for such a heavy brute. On the usability note, I also like that it has a bag. I don't have to worry about emptying it outside.
I was impressed with the metal shop. It's a heavy, strong, durable machine. The plug has the third wire for grounding and a heavy line to go with it. This thing is a tank and built mostly of metal. This gives it a very industrial (and retro) look.
Unfortunately, I couldn't give it 5 stars, as much as I wanted to. I actually do love this vacuum, but it does have faults. The first fault is that the manual doesn't match the vacuum. It seems to be written for a slenderize different version.
A second fault is that the accessories aren't the easiest to put on. (It should also be noted that they are purchased severally.) They're not the battle some make it sound, but they do require some effort.
A third fault is edge cleaning. While this was a brawn, the shape of the vacuum makes it possible only to do edge cleaning on one side. On the other side of the vacuum, the bag gets in the way when you try to entirely edges.
My final fault is noise. This is a loud machine. I imagine that is the tradeoff for getting the awe-inspiring suction, but I would think that it could be muffled somehow.
In all, I like this vacuum a lot and I really would like to give it 5 stars. Its faults, though inconsequential, keep that 5th star away.
Not respectable for attachments
I have had a Royal upright vacuum for almost 10 years and the only fad that has gone wrong is a broken spring that holds up the handle.
The only 'bad' feature to this model is that using attachments is the main hassle and I have never used mine because of it. You have to remove the belt to attach the hose and putting the belt back on is to the nth degree hard.
Basically if you only want a vacuum for carpets this is it but don't bother with attachments.

First I yen to say that we love this vacuum cleaner!!!!!
We bought a name brand plastic vacuum cleaner that had all the unrealistic features and was bagless last year. After each use not only did we need to empty the dirt compartment (no big deal) we also had to disassemble and expel all the foam filters, hepa filters, etc making each use of the unit an experience in 20 minutes of foul-mouthed cleaning of filters. Don't fall for the bagless vacuum cleaner marketing gimmick, there is nothing more serviceable than a bag!
Plastic vacuum cleaners are designed for limited life. The Royal RY8300 is an excellent all metal vacuum cleaner that features tablet bearings instead of bushings and is self propelled. There is no weight penalty to the metal structure and because of the high quality materials the manufacturer can afford to provide a 7 year guarantee and if anything breaks it is meant to be repaired not discarded. Royal RY6900 Commercial VacuumThis is no vacuum for softy's. With a 2 bypass motor system and a 40ft power cord this vac really works. It has onboard hose and tools, Crevise contrivance, Brush and extending wand. Also a top loading bag system. I like the brush roller off when vacuum is upright or curb with button on handle. Control height with button on handle. Bag full light. On off switch on deal with. Dislikes: This is a commercial duty vac and it is a little top heavy, But you will never want for more suction.

I purchased this to substitute a .00 Walmart Bissell vaccum. After reading the reviews I was a cheap careful but don't never forgive oneself my purchase. There have been no problems with the across or bristles upcoming off or setting problems.
